A Godless Society

It’s a shame how most teens today do not know their faith well, or do not care about their faith as much as they should. Most teens today get easily distracted by trivial things, most commonly being technology and forms of media, such as television, that they forget to put God first and practice their faith. In some cases, kids and teens were not properly educated about their faith by parents or other role models, so they don't understand how important God is. Because of this, most teens live a lifestyle that doesn't put any importance on God. If teens are better educated about their faith, more teens would make more time for God and be in church more often, and would be less likely to engage in sinful activities. Since we live in a society that tries its hardest to outlaw God, teens suffer the most by not getting a proper education about their faith. Ironically, in other cultures that incorporate God into their society, teens have no problem accepting their faith since they are taught early on that God is supposed to play an important part in their lives. This says something about our culture. It says that we don't care about God at all, or that we don't need religion when in fact, we do.

  1. I feel that with the rapid growth of technology and the wide spread aspect of our pseudo ‘connection’ with the world helped destroy a more naïve sense of faith. We, much like Adam and Eve in the garden, suddenly felt as though our eyes were opened and we were like gods. Our ingenuity and astounding sense of adulation were creating a world, our world of metal wires flying machines and catastrophic weaponry that was shaping beyond our realm of perceived thought. We disconnect with God because our lives our filled to the rim with the causal nature of constant noise. In some ways we are so overwhelmed with a sense of awe at our selves, a narcissistic tendency, but widely accepted. It became okay to get wrapped up in ourselves because our worlds became smaller.

  2. i agree on how we should intrudes God in kids right from the beginning and let them know what mass is a about, what jesus is about and what being Catholic really is all about. we should have an idea wen we are young and let our ideas and knowledge of this grow and prosper through our teen years to adulthood. so all i am saying is if its put in the head of a child that all these things are important to do and know maybe more teens would understand and respect religion a little bit more.

  3. Children were not brought up right, rather than having our faith brought up on us through teachings and stories, we are forced to listen forcefully to a single person or group of people who tell us the same story over and over again. Going to church is evident that it has become a chore for teens because we have heard the same similar stories all the time and we lose interest in our faith and on Christ. Unfortunately this is what the world has come down to but to change this we must actively involve our communites more within the church and the faiths.
