Premarital Sex

Sexually active teenagers, in America, are a significant thing going on in the world today. A question that rings in the minds of teenagers everywhere is when to have sex. Our Catholic teachings, instruct us to wait until one is in a loving marriage to have sex. Not only is the church preaching abstinence, but now public schools are also teaching students on the advantages of abstinence. Premarital sex is a growing, and important issue. Premarital sex is usually the cause of sexually transmitted diseases, teen pregnancy, and deep, emotions of regret. Nationally, one-quarter of 15 year old females and less than 30% of 15 year old males have had sex, compared with 66% of 18 year old females, and 68% of 18 year old males who have had sexual intercourse. So this means many teens have sex which is wrong and against out religion. I thin the reason why teens all in to sex so fast is because they see all there friends doing it and them telling other teens how much fun and exciting it really is. what are your views on premarital sex, do you think its wrong? Why or why not?

  1. Aside from premarital sex being wrong from a religious perspective, teen sex is risky in general. Nowadays, its incredibly easy to catch an std or something since its not uncommon for teens to have multiple partners. There is also the risk of pregnancy, and if one should get pregnant, they aren't mature enough to manage their own lives completely along with another human beings life, so this ends up in an abortion, or an unstable environment for the child. Most parents are afraid to talk to their teen about sex, so they never got an idea about all of these risks and they believe it is okay as long as they use "protection". Some even regret their experiences and wish that they had known about some of these things before they engaged in them.

  2. Teens use premarital sex as an opportunity to show affection to the person they believe that they are in love with. Another reason is to get back at family members or just because they are drinking underage and become drunk. Because of this topic, many teens relationships rely solely on sex. Once one partner becomes interested in the topic they try to force themselves upon the other. Concerning the consequences such as abortion does not run through the minds of most teens because they are focused on the immediate cause of their lust.
